  6. INTRODUCTION
  7. ------------
  8. Yakkity Clock is a fun, easy-to-use "talking clock" utility for
  9. the Microsoft Windows operating environment.
  10.  
  11. Yakkity Clock literally "tells" you the time at the press of a
  12. button -- or at easily configured intervals from once every hour
  13. to once every minute.  A number of built-in sound effects can be
  14. substituted for the "interval" voice time -- you can even set up
  15. Yakkity Clock to bark like a dog!

  17. Yakkity Clock is an alarm clock, too!  Up to four independent
  18. alarms can be set and enabled quickly and easily.  Plus, the
  19. alarm feature can be configured to play either of the two
  20. standard sounds OR any stand-alone .WAV sound file located in
  21. the Yakkity Clock directory!

  26. Yakkity Clock (Version 1.01) is an interim release that features
  27. improved memory handling and a number of performance enhancements.

  29. The improvements implemented in this release make Yakkity Clock
  30. more efficient with system memory and "friendlier" to other
  31. applications that may make demands on your sound system hardware.
  32.  
  33. As always, registered users will be advised of any future releases
  34. or upgrade announcements regarding this product.

  52. Full product documentation is contained in the YAKKITYS.TXT file.
  53. This is an ASCII text file which can be easily loaded and viewed
  54. with Windows Notepad, Windows Write, or any word processor or text
  55. editor that supports the ASCII text format.  This file includes a
  56. program description, instructions, and technical notes.

  58. Hypertext program documentation is supplied in the YAKKITYS.HLP
  59. file.  This is a Windows Help System format file, which can be
  60. loaded and viewed with Windows Help -- and is directly accessed
  61. from within Yakkity Clock via the menu bar "Help/Contents"
  62. command.

  64. Both of these files contain all the information you need to
  65. install and run this program.  The Windows Help System includes
  66. the provision for easily printing any topic or topics from the
  67. YAKKITYS.HLP file.  This handy feature can be used to turn your
  68. "manual on disk" into hard copy for future reference.

  71. QUICK & DIRTY START-UP
  72. ----- - ----- --------
  73. We recommend that you make a backup copy of the master program
  74. disk(s) before installing or running Yakkity Clock.  We also
  75. recommend that this program be installed to, and run from, a
  76. hard disk.

  78. To get this program loaded and running with a minimum of
  79. fuss, simply create a new directory or subdirectory on your
  80. hard disk (e.g., C:\PROGRAM or C:\WINAPPS\PROGRAM) and copy
  81. the entire contents of your master disk(s) to that new
  82. directory.

  84. From Microsoft Windows, you can run this program from File
  85. Manager by "double-clicking" the YAKKITYS.EXE file entry or by
  86. selecting the YAKKITYS.EXE file entry and issuing the menu bar
  87. "File/Run" command.

  89. Of course, Yakkity Clock's icon can be easily installed into
  90. a new or existing Program Manager group for quick, one-step
  91. running.

  96. Yakkity Clock is shareware, not freeware.
